Stalking Protection Orders

New Stalking Protection Orders received royal assent in March and will soon be available to police. The new civil orders allow police to make the application and have the flexibility to impose both restrictions and requirements on perpetrators, they carry a criminal penalty for those that breach them.

Protection Against Stalking In welcoming the new orders, know they will only be effective when criminal justice professionals are able to recognise the patterns of behaviors and the malicious intent that accompany stalking.

Protection Against Stalking encourages all Chief Constables and Police & Crime Commissioners to provide effective training to front line officers and staff to ensure they are able to identify stalking and differentiate this from harassment.
