Volunteer Advert

Stalking and harassment affects approximately two million people in the UK every year. The National Stalking Helpline works to provide advice and information about the law and support services to victims who may not know where else to turn. We are a new organisation that has already seen a high demand for our services and we are looking for two dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to work on the helpline and respond to e-mails providing advice and information. Personal experience with stalking issues is not essential as full training will be given. The volunteer will be fully supported by experienced staff and attend regular debrief sessions with a supervisor. Volunteering with the National Stalking Helpline will help volunteers to develop important and desirable workplace skills whilst providing valuable advice and assistance to people who often feel vulnerable and unsupported.

Volunteers will need to be able to attend training sessions once weekly for a period of 6 weeks. Times and dates of training sessions will be agreed at a later date so that they can best suit the needs of the volunteer and the Helpline. All volunteers will be CRB checked.

The time commitment expected is not yet fully confirmed but is likely to be a once weekly 2-3 hour slot for the minimum of a one year period. The Helpline is open between 09:30 – 16:00 weekdays (except Wednesday 09:00 – 16:00) so volunteers must be available during these hours. The Helpline is based in central London.

If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering then please submit no more than one A4 side of information about yourself, your skills and your contact details to info@stalkinghelpline.org

The next stage of the selection process will be an interview. We will contact potential volunteers with further information about this by the end of August.
